Meet Galen Passen

Meet Galen Passen from the class of 2009. While many young people set their sites on locations in the United States, Galen’s sites were set a bit farther away – India!

Galen has just moved back to Saratoga Springs from New Delhi, India where he’s been studying Hindustani classical music/contemporary composition. Here is what Galen says about his musical journey:

“In the beginning, music was a passionate interest that I had the privilege and luxury to be able to pursue. I have since realized that studying music, and by engaging in discourse of how music has informed and is informed by its social, historical, cultural and potential contexts, has helped me understand myself on a deep level. This allows me to have a more positive impact on the communities I am a part of.”

Galen’s instrument is the sitar and he will be playing it at the Alumni Concert.

Join us on Saturday, June 17th at 7:30 PM at Saratoga Springs High School’s Loewenberg Auditorium for our student assistance fund benefit concert. There will be over twenty alumni acts performing that evening. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Adults are $10 and seniors/students are $5. A family pack is available for $25 – so bring the whole clan.

All proceeds will go to the Friends of Music Saratoga Springs Student Assistance Fund.

Friends of Music is a 501(c)3 organization.
